It’s so difficult to give your whole heart to a person only to watch it come back as void. It’s troublesome when the ones you care about misconceive your kindness for weakness. It’s insulting when you give freely only to be unappreciated, you can almost feel the bruises from them walking all over you without them laying a single finger on your physical body. But you endure the pain; for the times where they left you high and dry, for the resources they left you without, and for the blunt disregard they had towards you as a person.
Didn’t it hurt? But yet you tried and tried again…
The easiest thing we could do is wash our hands from that person. The hardest thing we could do is love them regardless.
One of the hardest things the Lord has bestowed upon us is that we should love like Him. This is difficult because we are mere humans. I don’t know about anyone else but the human in me wants to walk away from you, wants to hate you, wants you to feel all the pain that you made me feel, wants to tell you about yourself and everyone around you. But the Christ in me won’t allow me to. Christ-like love means forgiving someone who hasn’t even apologized. It means being sympathetic even when you don’t know the circumstances. It means loving someone when it’s no longer convenient. It consists of putting your own selfish desires behind, all for love.
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. – Ephesians 4:2
I know that it hurts but God sees everything especially if someone has wronged you. We are his children and vengeance is for Him, not us. We want to make justifications for our actions when we retaliate against other people but that doesn’t mean its Christ-like. When you love God with your whole heart you don’t have to worry about self, He has you covered. ❤
By all means, pray and seek the Lord for guidance. Study his word. Be wise. Draw boundaries. Guard your heart. Protect your assets. Take a break. Leave if you must. But keep love in your heart because God has never stopped loving us and we fail him daily.
1 Timothy 1:14
And the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.
