As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day this week, I reflect on being a mother and how it has given me great joy. There is never a dull moment in my house with having two busy kids and a hubby. The lists of things to do and places to go is never-ending. Being a parent is a selfless job that is tougher than being in the workforce. There are so many components to motherhood that we multitask effortlessly. However, the job we have is not easy at all but, we have been gifted with the ability to make it appear that way. I want to name a just a few things we do with our special touch. This job description may vary for each family and each mom.
Chief Mom Officer-oversee the day to day operations in the home. This includes packing lunch boxes, signing papers for school, combing hair, packing bookbags, and reviewing what is on the agenda for the day for the house.
Uber Driver- this one is right to the point. You make sure everyone gets to where they need to be on time.
Chef- this is a major deal meal planning, cooking, and grocery shopping. Your effort here is appreciated because you have to keep things exciting by keeping it fresh with new recipes.
Nurse-you take care of everyone in the house. You are always on duty to help soothe upset stomachs, fevers and nagging coughs with love and medicine. Your shift is 24/7 early morning or late night it doesn’t matter because you are ready. This is pretty impressive because we still manage to be composed through it all.
Cheerleader-The biggest supporter in the house. We encourage and empower everyone that is connected to us because want to see the people we love win.
Prayer Warrior-we know where our strength lies as women and that is in God. It is impossible to do all these things without Him. He gives us peace in the chaos and refuels our faith in motherhood.
Life Coach-you are an advisor, mentor, and counselor. Although every situation is different you know what to say and when you have no words your presence is priceless.
This is a snapshot of the activities included, but not limited to our role as a mother.
Truthfully speaking, it can be overwhelming to think of all the roles that we have. Life can feel like it is an unending road of busyness. I still thank God for all He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do. Be comforted in knowing that If you are still standing then He is still keeping you! Moment by moment with every passing minute the Lord is restoring you. To all the mothers and mother figures treasure every kiss, hug, and “I love you mommy”. You are amazing, strong, and invaluable. Your worth and capabilities are described in Proverbs 31: 10-31.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting: but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”(verse 30).
Happy Mother’s Day,
