So many times we find ourselves attached to many things that we possess. We live in such a materialist world that we look for things that we can buy to fulfill our happiness. We begin to say things like “if only I had that car” or “if only I had that house” in terms of fulfillment. Then when we receive those things we become overjoyed with the object instead of the God that provided it. We make idols out of things that can be bought instead of seeking a relationship with God, which is free of charge.
I’m here just to remind you that we serve a living God.
The second commandments tell us to put away our idols.
Exodus 20:4 KJV
Thou Shalt not make unto thee any graven image. or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
The definition of idol= An image or representation of a god used as an object of worship.
God isn’t made into an object. He is not something that we can possess and worship at our leisure. God tells us to put away our idols because He is living. He was born again He is not dead! We can call on Him and He will answer.
God is waiting for us to put away the creations and worship the creator. Building a solid relationship with Him, something that we can feel and prosper with. He is a God that we can call on in our times of need, He is a God that we can pray to and receive answers. If you are reading this it is not too late to build a relationship with Him if you haven’t already. A loving, caring, and real relationship.
